Quickie with Russell (ooh-er missus)! So… Trump is right?

No. No Trump isn’t right. Well, he’s right wing anyway. But this is in response to Russell’s YouTube video posted October 14th, wherein Russell gets all in a lather about Trump saying at one of his rallies “We must demand the immediate negotiation of a peaceful end to the war in Ukraine or we will end up in World War III and there will be nothing left of our planet at all”.

1. What do these morons think Ukraine intends to do? Invade Russia and take Moscow? Of course Ukraine wants a negotiated end to the war. And, just because you don’t see them, doesn’t mean that negotiations aren’t going on. For example, In her Reith lecture for the BBC in 2011, former head of MI5 Elizabeth Manningham-Buller, described how throughout the troubles back channel negotiations continued between the British government and the Provisional Irish Republican Army.

If negotiations are ongoing and peace will ultimately be agreed in a peace treaty, what is it that Russell and Trump are asking for now? They want Ukraine to immediately lay down their arms and capitulate to Russia. Where is the negotiation in that “peace”?

2. Ukraine might have perhaps one or two people who are more familiar with the process and strategy of negotiations and peace deals than some guy from off of YouTube. There appears to be a persistent opinion that Ukraine is so backwards that there is no one in the country as intelligent or capable of strategic thought as some-guy-off-the-internet. And not just any guy, but Russell Brand, a guy who was gifted a position on  a Masters course in Global Politics at the prestigious University of London’s School of Oriental and Asian Studies (SOAS), but dropped out because he “didn’t do his homework”. A man so dedicated to political knowledge and international relations that, despite being independently wealthy and free from the burdens of most students, could not be arsed to do his home work. That guy!

And let’s not forget the other guy opining on Ukrainian peace deals; Donald Trump. Remember how he was impeached for withholding military aid to Ukraine in order to blackmail them into providing dirt on his political opponent ? Remember how his campaign was managed by Paul Manafort, former political advisor to pro-Putin president of Ukraine who was forced to flee to Russia after a popular uprising? And was in the hole to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska for $20m? And who plead guilty to being a Russian agent? Yeah, that guy. That’s the guy I’m going to for advice on what’s good for Ukraine.

Remember at the start of the war, when Ukraine had to surrender because Russian victory was inevitable? And now they’ve got to surrender because of a likely Russian defeat? Seems like what ever happens, Russell well thought out and informed strategy for Ukraine is that they must surrender.

So, to sum it up, in case you hadn’t already figured it out, Donald Trump really can’t be trusted on anything at all related to Russia or Ukraine, and Russell Brand is literally unqualified on the subject.

Weird that, when he’s coining in from YouTube monetization Russell has no hesitation on being an expert on international politics, but when it’s for actual academic knowledge and personal advantage, “oooh, me ADHD is playing up and I can’t do me ‘omework”.

Yeah, why bother with all those complicated bookywooks at an actual university when you can listen to a failed real estate developer who ran a fake university?

Post Script: Russell tries to imply Trump isn’t “fascist” because he’s “peace loving”. Here’s some George Orwell for you: “ Pacifism is objectively pro-Fascist. This is elementary common sense. If you hamper the war effort of one side you automatically help that of the other.
